Founded by engineer Jeff Payne in 2021, AzurePD is a Southern California product development consultancy focused on helping medical device startups, physician inventors, lean R&D teams, and established medical device companies move device concepts forward to market.

Jeff has 17 years of experience in medical device R&D and product development, with work spanning early concept development, detailed design, SolidWorks CAD, prototyping, design controls, V&V testing, manufacturing/process development, human factors/usability support, and commercialization.

Jeff has had the privilege of working on innovative, life-changing medical technologies for both startups and larger OEMs, with much of his career spent on cardiovascular catheter-based devices. He especially enjoys translating clinical and founder-driven ideas into practical engineering concepts that can be prototyped, tested, refined, and moved toward real-world clinical use.

Jeff also values working directly with clinicians and users to better understand unmet needs, gather critical design feedback, and develop products that are grounded in actual use conditions — not just assumptions made at a desk or conference room.

When not immersed in SolidWorks, Jeff can be found carving local canyon roads on one of his motorcycles, walking his two feisty dachshunds, or enjoying a beautiful SoCal day with his family.
